Netflix is full to the brim with highly anticipated amazing tv shows and here we have yet another mind-blogging series coming our way. It is ready to serve us all the movie that is impossible to stop obsessing over. I have obsessed over it for months at the time of its release. I am sure you were too!
Any guesses which movie I am talking about. It’s- baahubali. Yes, you have read it right, Baahubali. Netflix has recently announced the prequel series to this very popular movie which will be the adaptation of The Rise of Sivagami. Let me tell you The rise of Sivagami is prequel novel to the 2015 film baahubali: the beginning.
The show is named as “Baahubali: before the beginning”.
The film was produced by S.S Rajamouli under the production house Arka Media Works. Netflix has given the series two-session order and each session will consist of nine episodes each. The sessions are based on the novel written by Anand Neelakantan. The sessions may extend based upon the success of the series. Dev Katta and Praveen Sataru will be the co-directors.
The makers have launched two television venture. First one of which is Amazon’s animated series Baahubali: The lost legends last year. Off the bat I tell you that Baahubali: The beginning was released in 2015 followed by its sequel in 2017, Baahubali: The conclusion. The entire collection of both the films globally include Rs 24 Billion.
“The World of Baahubali is extensive and immersive with strong characters and larger than life kingdoms,” are the words of Rajamouli in an interview.
“The films Baahubali -The Beginning and The Conclusion, are from one story set in this world and more dramatic stories were broadly conceived while building the Universe. The Baahubali Series, a prequel to the films, is one such story. I am very excited that this is being adapted as a Netflix Original Series. With Netflix as our partner, we can create a rich and riveting series and take this quintessential Indian epic to the world, which is very gratifying to me as a story-teller.”
“Baahubali is a world-class franchise that epitomizes the power of compelling stories that resonate globally,” Erik Barmack, Netflix’s VP for international originals said. “We are excited to work with some of the world’s most talented writers and producers on one of India’s most beloved stories. The series is a tremendous opportunity for us to give audiences more of the universe that they have come to love, and welcome millions more into the global Baahubali fandom.”
“We have been working for over a year now in developing this story, a prequel to the films as a Netflix original series,” Prasad Devineni, Arka Media Works producer added. “We are happy to be partnering with Netflix to produce this amazing story. This partnership gives us the reach and the creative freedom to bring to life the full potential of the series in all its grandeur and exceed the high expectations set by both our films.”
Moving further to the story line, which is a beautiful transformation portrayal of a rebellious and acrimonious girl to a wise and unequalled queen, Sivagami. Entertaining drama set on the rise of Mahishmati from a city to empire. This epic storytelling, high production and spectacular visuals will make Baahubali the best series to come out of Netflix.
