OnePlus 5T First Impression – A Premium Powerful Phone with Style and Long Lasting Battery

Perfect smartphone for Photography Fans, Gamers and Multitasking with Style and Battery Backup

We now have yet another Premium Flagship smartphone in the market called OnePlus 5T. It is literally the 2017 iced version of OnePlus 5. Now the OnePlus 5 that came out in June this year is only a few months old and OnePlus is a company that tends to provide what their fans want. The new OnePlus 5T is bang on the spot. OnePlus officially launched this new 5T variant yesterday with Stylish Full-screen design and powerful specs inside. Here are my first impression of this new competitive Flagship smartphone which will drool you over this phone.

DISPLAY:

This is definitely the biggest change in any of the OnePlus smartphones. It’s what makes the new OnePlus 5T feel the most like a premium device. It is now a 6 inches 1080p AMOLED display with 2160 x 1080p resolutions at the front and it gets a way closer to every edge so the side bezels are slimmer now. While the top and bottom bezels are cut down a lot, which makes this phone of 2017. You already know screen to body ratio matters now and this feels lot more modern.

OnePlus 5T Display

This is still not a quad HD display, it’s not quite at the level of the highest end flagship in resolution but OnePlus also likes to stick with lower resolution in the name of battery life and performance. Although the 1080p doesn’t look bad at all. And this one is with the taller 18:9 aspect ratio that we get to see on all these 2017 phones. It’s not new to Android so the app are already fill up the display. The display get very bright so the sunlight viewing won’t be any issue. The phone has also got different color modes including an adjustment slider for color temperature.

DESIGN:

OnePlus-5T DesignWe’ve definitely seen this industrial anybody metal look before. There are some lines and some light curves but overall is the shape which resembles its little brother a lot. With near bezel less display there’s no room for fingerprint sensor on the front. So this is the first phone from OnePlus to feature Ceramic Fingerprint sensor on the back of the phone.

They have put it at the correct place which is just above the middle, not too high not to low just right where your finger will rest. It is still fast enough to unlock your phone in just 0.2 seconds. Also, there’s no physical Home button in OnePlus 5T, because of the fullscreen display. It also has exceptionally good and convincingly crisp tactile buttons.

CAMERAS:

So the OnePlus 5 already has a dual camera setup, it had a main camera and a 2X telephoto lens on the back. That’s pretty standard what we all saw in 2017. But this time OnePlus has decided to something little different. Though OnePlus 5T got the same 16 Megapixel main camera but it is accompanied by another 20 Megapixel normal range camera with an f/1.7 lens focused on low-light photography.

OnePlus says “5T under ten lux will switch automatically to their second camera and use something called ‘Intelligent Pixel Technology’. This merges 4 pixels into 1 to reduce noise and enhances clarity in low light.” Now this is an explanation by OnePlus. At this point we don’t know if this is hardware or software specific, so we just have to trust OnePlus on this. There’s also portrait mode in this camera using all software to create a blur around our subjects since you don’t have a telephoto lens anymore.

FACIAL RECOGNITION:

It seemed fast during the launch, and also claimed to be 5-10 times faster than the face ID on the iPhone. So you can hit the power button to wake up the phone and basically turn it towards you as soon as it sees your face it unlock without any animation. Once you remove it from the pocket it look at the phone it takes you to the home screen without even pause for a second on your lock screen to look at you. You reader have to wait for the full review to know that how can it be so fast.

THE SIGNATURE STUFF:

As we said OnePlus 5 was already a pretty great phone for the price. So they kept a lot of those things in the OnePlus 5T. They kept the headphone jack which is still welcome by many users. The alert slider on the side again to switch between the modes. They kept the Oxygen OS which is the ROM there’s always been close to the stock Android with a few added features on top. Right now its on top of Android 7.1.1 but you should expect the OREO very soon.

OnePlus 5T Software

They have kept the same specs as OnePlus 5. Which means, OnePlus 5T is powered up with Snapdragon 835 chipset and 64GB internal with 6GB of RAM or 128GB internal with 8GB of RAM. No wireless charging still but they kept dash charging, reader mode and most importantly keeping around the same price. It starts at 499$ which is have the price of the current iPhone X and other high end flagships.

In India, the OnePlus 5T is priced at Rs. 32,999/- for the 6GB RAM variant, while the higher variant is priced at Rs. 37,999. You must check the complete pricing and availability details in this OnePlus 5T article. Now we have to wait until the full review to know this beast in-and-out.
